My Thoughts on Into the Wild and Chris McCandless

The book Into the Wild wasn't what I expected it to be. I thought the book was going to be more about nature itself but instead it focused on a life of a guy who lived in the nature. To me, it wasn't worth reading because it didn't interest me. Also because it is not a type of book I would read. Into the Wild tells us about life is that you never know what it is going to bring. Also it tells us that you will never know who you might meet in life that could change it forever. An example of the book telling us that is when McCandless met Ron Franz and changes Ron's life forever.Chris gave Ron the advice of living with nature and thats what Ron did. This book, in my opinion, is not good. I think this because it is mostly about a guy who wants more to life then what he already has. Also because it is not just telling us about this guy, but also defending him from the criticism he got for living in the wild. Into the Wild does give a good aspect of life, but not the kind worth reading.

In my opinion,Chris McCandless did know what he was doing and what he needed to survive, but he decided not take the things he needed. I do feel it was stupid to do that, but I see where he didn't want to. Chris McCandless to me as a person is someone who wanted to find his way in life. Also to me, he is a person who wanted to take on nature and think of what all this society has, but doesn't need.Chris McCandless was a person trying to find happiness in the wild. I agree with most of the critics, but then some I think went to harsh on me. One example of going to harsh is what Nick Jans wrote, saying "McCandless was hardly unique; there's quite a few of these guys hanging around the state. The only difference is McCandless ended up dead." I agree with some of these people, because yes, Chris didn't go prepared but still he didn't want to.But then, Chris McCandless finally realized at the end true happiness is real when only shared. To me, Chris McCandless did find what he was looking for out in the wild.

Into the Wild Movie

Differences between the movie and book

-when the mom has the dream about hearing Chris, in the movie it is first and in the book in is in the middle.
-the bus makes it more clearer.
-The image of the bus have impact
-The image of the mountains has impact

The book and movie Into the Wild are different because the order of movie is different then the book's order. The film improves on the book because we get to see the actual visuals of what the book describes. It also improves on the book because we actual see the places he visited and what they were like and what they looked like. The book is superior because it describes his journey to the extreme. It is also superior because we better understand Chris McCandless. We better understand Chris McCandless because the book describes his feelings better than the movie does. The movie had great music and the scenery was amazing, but i feel it should of had a little more dialogue. The book had excellent description of the places he went, of his feelings, and his journey, but it wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

My Belt

On my belt, I would put lacrosse, music, my friends, my initials, my family, a smiley face, clothes, and a party hat. I would put lacrosse because it’s my sport and I love it. I also would put music because it is my inspiration for parts of my life. My family would describe me best because they are always there for me and they are also my inspiration is life. I would put my friends because they help me get through some of the hard times in my life. I would put clothes because they show my personality to others that don’t know me. A smiley face is also a good way to describe me because it shows that I am always happy and I always like to smile. Another thing I would put on my belt is a party hat because it shows I like to have fun. The last thing I would put on the belt is my initials because it shows people who I am.

Nature Thoughts

When I hear nature I think of animals, the trees, the insects, the flowers, and the rocks. The natural world affects the world around me because it all has to do with the weather. The weather can change everything for me because if it rains, I can’t go outside or do something active outside. Also whenever it is sunny out, I feel better inside and I can do active things outside. In other classes, like Earth Science, I have learned that the natural world is not what it seems. There are many things out there that you never think of. Also you would never think about how the animals living in the natural world survive.

An experience of nature is when I went camping with my friend. Even though we didn’t sleep in a tent, you could still feel and hear the nature things around you. I would hear the insects, owls, the wind, and the trees rustling in the wind. My favorite part of the whole camping trip is when we would sit by the camp firing telling stories and singing. The camping trip was a very nice experience of the nature.
